NHL/NHLPA First Shift Program

A fun and welcoming introduction to girls’ hockey

Is your daughter between the ages of 6 and 10 and new to hockey?

EOGHA is proud to once again partner with the NHL and NHLPA to bring the First Shift Program to our community.

The program is designed to give new-to-hockey families a positive, affordable and welcoming introduction to the sport. No previous skating or hockey experience is required.

First Shift focuses on making hockey:

• Accessible
• Affordable
• Safe
• Fun

Program Details

Cost: $299

Registration includes:

• Six one-hour weekly on-ice sessions
• Instruction through Hockey Canada
• Head-to-toe Bauer hockey equipment
• A mandatory Welcome Event on October 21, 2026

The on-ice sessions will begin in November 2026.

An optional transition program will also be offered in January 2027. This program will provide participants with additional on-ice sessions at a subsidized rate.

How to Register

Registration is now open.

Before registering for First Shift, families must create a Hockey Canada account and obtain a Hockey Canada Registry number.

Step 1: Create a Hockey Canada Account

Visit: https://register.hockeycanada.ca/

Select Login in the top-right corner of the page, then select Sign Up and follow the instructions.

Step 2: Register for First Shift

Visit: https://www.firstshift.ca/locations/on/

Select East Ottawa Girls Hockey Association as your location.
